SIR 2020 Virtual SA-CME: Women's Health in IR

Sun, 6/14: 3:45 PM  - 5:15 PM
SA-CME session
Webinar
Room: Webinar
CME Credits: 1.5
This session aims to provide a broad perspective on how interventional radiologists can significantly impact and improve women's health, beyond the commonly discussed procedures such as embolization for uterine fibroids and pelvic congestion syndrome. IR procedures that impact women range from uterus-sparing and even life-saving uterine arterial interventions to treatment of tubal infertility to therapies for local and metastatic breast cancer. Attendees will learn how IRs can effectively treat many common conditions exclusive to or predominantly affecting women. In addition, attention to gender differences in outcomes, techniques, and devices for IR procedures performed in both men and women is critically important to optimizing treatment for women and promoting women's health. Attendees will review the latest data on gender differences in management of vascular disease and learn strategies to help narrow the gender gap in effective diagnosis and treatment of these conditions.

Objective

- Endovascular management of peripartum hemorrhage and traumatic uterine arterial injuries
- Interventional oncology treatment options for localized and metastatic breast cancer
- Gender differences in current diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease and strategies for improvement
