Description of the session: The effectiveness of new IR training paradigm is a topic for debate. Some IRs believe that we are producing more clinically oriented IRs and are improving IR trainee gender gap. Others argue the traditional fellowship trained IRs more committed to the field with a concern that MS4 is too early to decide a career, especially for those who have little IR exposure. Mean attrition rate for Integrated Residency between 2017-2020 was 3.2%.

We will discuss 1) why high attrition rates 2) what IRs/SIR can do focusing on PGY1 experience & earlier procedural and clinic exposure during residency.
