IR has managed biliary tract/gallbladder diseases by decompression (drainage and stenting). IR has a growing therapeutic role for patients with malignant/benign strictures, bile leaks, and gallstones. Percutaneous endoscopy has increased the role of IR in these patients. We can now minimize the duration patients require these drains. Endoscopic biopsies, lithotripsy, endobiliary ablation, laser stricturotomy, and stenting (plastic and metal) will be discussed.
a) Benign and Malignant Biliary Strictures.
