Professional development is important for all physicians, including interventional radiologists. Despite this importance, few IRs receive dedicated education and training on how to maximize their professional development across a variety of IR practice types/models. The Society of Interventional Radiology can play a crucial role in supporting the professional development of its members, but it is important for the society to embrace this and work to ensure that its members are aware of all that it offers! This session will briefly review the concept of professional identity formation as it pertains to overall professional development. Panelists will then share information with attendees about how professional societies support the development of its members, and share a number of examples of how one can maximize their engagement in SIR to support their own professional development. Panel members will be IRs with a variety of current and/or former SIR leadership roles, practice types, and years of experience. A question and answer session will also be included.
