Becoming an independent IR department requires certain infrastructure, clinical strength, financial strength and strong relationship with other departments as well as hospital administration. These requirements may be different for each institution and each IR program. This session is designed to go over necessary pre-requisites prior to such an initiative.

Learning Objectives:

Attendees interested in forming their own IR Department should be able to learn what steps to take in transforming their IR program to make it ready for becoming an independent department
Understanding finances of IR and DR and indirect financial contributions of IR program to the hospital to negotiate IR salaries
How to create a strong clinical IR program that brings patients to the health system/hospital and make IRs valuable to the hospital as clinicians, not just technicians that complete the work provided by other clinicians.
