Diversification of the medical workforce is an imperative that seeks to address inequities in the delivery of adequate healthcare to marginalized populations. When compared with other specialties, Interventional Radiology has significant shortages of URMs (underrepresented minorities), women, and SGMs (sexual and gender minorities) in their physician workforce.
The panel will include experts in the IR Healthcare Disparities space, some of whom are representatives of the above groups, offering opinions on strategic initiatives seeking to overcome historic disparities in the IR physician workforce and its potential impact on improving the quality of care. Each member will discuss their opinions in an open forum without specific reference to a particular topic.
