Description of the session: We propose the argument for why VIR trainees should pursue PAD in their future careers. Although the first endovascular procedure ever performed was an SFA angioplasty by Charles Dotter in 1964, VIR has lost significant ground in the PAD space over the last three decades. Compounding this is the lack of exposure to PAD by many VIR training programs around the US. However, recent projections suggest a plethora of opportunity for future VIRs to enter the PAD turf and succeed. This shift could dramatically benefit patients, clinicians across specialties, and society at large.
