Description of the session: Should future IRs build their foundation in surgery, or is there a role for medicine or transitional year training? Is it up to the resident or should more programs be integrated and include a surgical year? There is no society guideline on what intern year for interventional radiology should entail. Some programs are integrated and have a surgical, medical, or hybrid year included. Others leave it up to the trainee. This panel will bring together trainees from across the country. Attendees will gain perspective on the rationale behind each approach and hear real-world experiences.
