New for SIR 2026! The Case Competition is a new, high-energy educational event designed to highlight clinical excellence, critical thinking, and procedural creativity in interventional radiology. Participants submit real-world IR cases that demonstrate diagnostic acumen, technical innovation, and patient-centered outcomes. Finalists will present their cases live to a panel of expert judges and a live audience at the Annual Scientific Meeting.
The competition format blends education with friendly rivalry, promoting peer learning, showcasing the diverse problem-solving approaches within the IR community, and fostering connections among emerging and established leaders in the field.
Educational objectives:
- Foster clinical reasoning and decision-making in real-world IR cases.
- Highlight procedural innovation, complication management, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Provide a platform for emerging voices in IR to present and receive feedback.
- Encourage academic mentorship and engagement among trainees, fellows, and junior attendings.
