Acute and subacute arterial thrombosis in peripheral arterial disease presents unique challenges, where speed, precision, and judgment directly impact limb salvage. This course dives into the evolving role of mechanical thrombectomy in PAD management, from device selection and technical strategies to complication avoidance and integration with definitive revascularization. Through expert insights, case-based learning, and practical pearls, interventional radiologists will learn to optimize outcomes when facing high-stakes occlusions.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify patients with acute or subacute thrombosis, preoperatively or intraoperatively. 2. Differentiate between available thrombectomy devices and select the appropriate platform based on clot morphology, vessel size, and anatomic location.
  • Apply step-by-step thrombectomy techniques and adjunctive therapies (angioplasty, stenting, lysis) to achieve durable revascularization. 4. Recognize and manage procedure-related complications including distal embolization, dissection, perforation, and no-reflow.
  • Incorporate recent evidence and real-world data to refine thrombectomy decision-making and integrate it into comprehensive PAD management strategies.
