Emerging Indications for Percutaneous Ablation

Ablations are expanding in terms of target organs, treated conditions, and patient selection. Newer ablation technologies have enabled the treatment of patients with lesions in unfavorable locations or patients with unfavorable disease. This session will review cases in thyroid, breast, pancreatic, and pediatric percutaneous ablation as well as cases with newer technologies, i.e., PEF and histotripsy. Through the case examples, procedure indications, patient selection, technical considerations, tips and tricks, as well as contraindications will be reviewed.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participant will be able to describe expanding role of ablation for new conditions and/or organs.
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to define patient selection for pancreatic, breast, thyroid and pediatric ablations.
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to describe technical considerations in emerging ablation indications.
