Vascular anomalies (VAs) are a group of rare disorders that require multidisciplinary care. While most multidisciplinary VA clinics are pediatric-focused, adult patients often lose access to specialized care once they age out of these systems. Finding adult providers familiar with VA diagnosis and treatment is challenging, and without proper care, clinical deterioration is common. Interventional radiologists (IRs) may receive procedural training in VA treatment (e.g., embolization, ablation, sclerotherapy) during residency or fellowship, but this experience is often insufficient for the comprehensive care of adult VA patients.
Learning Objectives:
To develop a focused and practical curriculum, Vascular Anomalies in Adult Patients will upskill and reskill interventional radiologists in a multidisciplinary model of care.
Following this activity, learners will be able to assess the comprehensive workup and diagnosis of vascular anomalies in adults, describe the genetic underpinnings and their implications for treatment, outline the full spectrum of management strategies including medical, interventional, dermatologic, and surgical approaches, and identify special topics and novel therapies relevant to adult vascular anomaly patients.
