Women in IR Practice Toolbox is a practical, skills-focused session designed to equip women interventional radiologists with actionable strategies for sustainable leadership and career advancement. Topics include how to say “no” strategically to protect time and avoid burnout, how to lead effectively from the middle while balancing clinical demands, and how to create visible leadership opportunities in everyday practice. The session also provides a primer on IR compensation—covering RVUs, call pay, benchmarking, and the gender pay gap—and concludes with a candid discussion on sponsorship, moving beyond mentorship to accelerate career growth and influence.

Learning Objectives:

Apply practical strategies to set professional boundaries and manage committee and leadership demands in ways that support career longevity in interventional radiology.
Identify concrete, day-to-day opportunities to demonstrate and expand leadership—from operations and education projects to effective delegation while on call.
Understand the fundamentals of IR compensation, including RVUs, call pay, and benchmarking, and differentiate mentorship from sponsorship to better advocate for equitable pay and career advancement.
