Professor of Radiology Stanford University School of Medicine, United States
In 2025 our Healthcare System in America is more complicated than ever. What's more, we are busier than ever with a greater number of procedures available to us and a greater number of patients to take care of. On top of that we have families, academic interests, and administrative responsibilities. As a result, we are abandoning our patients - likely without realizing it. This session seeks to provide the vantage points of three separate patients, including my own family, to provide a glimpse into the downstream effects of our actions (or lack thereof). The session will be an eye-opening experience for IR physicians who may think they are providing comprehensive longitudinal clinical care. The concept of humanism in medicine, specifically in IR, will be introduced and described - hopefully in such a way that attendees practices will be changed for the better.
