Cryoablation in solitary functioning kidneys resulted in a very modest reduction in renal function, even in patients with chronic kidney disease and larger ablations. No patients developed ESRD within 1 year. Greater losses of renal function were predicted by larger ablation volumes, but were less than reported after partial nephrectomy.
